Every night before I head up to bed I ask Alexa to arm the alarm (and separately ask her to run the bedtime routine because RING ALARM STILL DOESN’T WORK WITH #&*%ING ALEXA ROUTINES!!!!). Every night Alexa replies that the “Alarm is armed in stay mode” and at the same time both my Ring Alarm base station and keypad announce “Home and armed.” Only a couple of nights ago, for no discernible reason, my base station decided to scream this for all to hear. Somehow the volume on my base station was jacked up to the maximum, and I didn’t know if it could even be adjusted.
Thankfully there’s an easy way to adjust the volume. Here’s how to adjust the volume on any of your Ring Alarm devices:
1- Open the Ring Alarm app
2- Tap the hamburger menu at the top left, then tap Devices
3- Scroll through the device list until you see the Security heading. If it is not already expanded, tap the heading to show the devices. Then tap your Alarm Base Station
4- From the Alarm Devices menu (which should really be on the previous menu under Security, but that’s a complaint for another day) select the device you’d like to adjust. At this time the only Ring Alarm devices with speakers are Keypads and Base Stations.
5- In the menu for your selected device, tap the tile labeled “Audio Settings”
6- Once in the Audio Settings you can adjust the volume slider to suit your needs.
The device doesn’t make any sounds confirming your new volume, so you will have to trigger it to make a noise by opening a door or arming the alarm. It should be noted that changing the volume does not change the volume of the siren. That will always go off at full volume. But be aware that there is only one volume slider for both chirps (door or window opened) and armed/disarmed notifications. If you expect to be able to hear chirps, then you shouldn’t turn the volume down too much.
